Nice to Meet You
Hello and welcome to my introduction video and thanks for checking out my website! This video is to showcase me, which is why I decided to keep it simple and add some fun music. See below this section for my full portfolio.
I achieved a Bachelor's degree in Advertising Management from Michigan State University in three years. During this period I gained extensive knowledge in marketing and advertising, both theory and content creation. I then went on to earn my Master of Arts in Strategic Communication in one year with a certificate in Organizational Communication for Leadership. This taught me how to be an effective facilitator of ideas, groups, and overall communication.
I have worked a variety of entry level jobs but have spent a majority of my corporate work journey at a company called TechSmith. During my time there I was an employee and community engagement intern, trusted by senior management to take on various tasks including:
I am proficient in marketing content creation and theory, project management, and communication via various channels. I acquired these skills through real work experience in addition to my education. I am always looking to grow and continue to advance the skills that I already have.
Below is a collection of videos I've produced, recorded, and edited. I've headed several large video projects for partners at TechSmith and am grateful to have had access to their resources. I start by carefully crafting a storyboard for the content and understanding the vision, and ending with a clear call to action.
Here you can find a video that I made for a non-profit called The Lansing Promise. This organization was built largely by the Lansing community and prominent community figure, Earvin "Magic" Johnson, to fund scholarships for students who couldn't otherwise afford it. The first two videos in my portfolio are a part of a series of videos I produced for charity partners receiving funds raised by Michigan State basketball coach Tom Izzo and wife Lupe Izzo's, 5k Non-Profit race. This video was published on their fundraising and social media pages to generate buzz and inform donors where their money is going.
Here you can view a video made for the Greater Lansing Food Bank. I was fortunate enough to have a studio to work with at TechSmith to record, edit, and produce all of the Izzo videos with high-quality equipment. In total, the Izzo Legacy 5k Race raised over $17k, and while I cannot attribute its success directly to the videos I made, I am grateful for the opportunity and trust that I was given to contribute towards their cause.
I was tasked by our marketing team to generate social media content where I was able to try new things and be creative. During this time I learned a ton about how to effectively use features such as animations, graphics, and transitions. This experience inspired me to earn my Camtasia certification and taught me how to implement more advanced features like media matte, video overlay, and more cool features.
Video is a great way to teach others how to do things, from simple videos that can be posted on social media to lengthy lectures given by professors. Here is an example of a tutorial I crafted on how to level up your Halloween invitations using video, followed by a short video message at the end which can be used to pique interest.
To inspire and connect with employees on a more personal level, we encourage leadership and teams to use the power of video to keep all members of an organization engaged. Here is an example of a video I made for the team that I primarily worked with at TechSmith to update and raise awareness for projects and spending that the group executed in the 2023 calendar year.
We always challenge organizations to use video to connect with their audience via a much more personal channel, especially if there is a clear ask for something such as donations or support. While any group can send a boring and lengthy email or newsletter, we equip community partners with an initial video, as well as the knowledge and tools to continue using video to their advantage.
I was given the opportunity to present and follow through on an idea I had during my time working for TechSmith. During a meeting with several C-Suite members at my company in addition to Executives at MSU, I chose to open the conversation with a video that gave insight into the details of the contest, plans on how to execute, and leadership behind the project. More information can be found below.
TECHSMITH VIDEO SUBMISSION CONTEST
During my period as an intern at TechSmith's global headquarters in Michigan, I spearheaded a project that the company still intends to pursue. Initially, I was able to effectively present my idea to upper-level management within the organization and soon to Michigan State University Executives. I brought to leadership an outside-of-the-box idea and used marketing tactics that enabled TechSmith to compete in its marketing efforts by hosting a video submission contest for students on MSU's campus. I was empowered by the C-suite of my company as well as the university to develop a marketing plan with content, a fair rubric, and an external signup webpage designed through Unbouce. Throughout the process, I was also tasked with communicating progress and updates to all relevant teams.
